How to get here:

To reach Lake Atitlán from Guatemala City it takes two and a half hours (144 kms/ 90 miles) on the Panamerican Highway West (CA1). Once you go past Los Encuentros 3 miles, veer left on the road to Sololá and Panajachel.

The entrance to the Atitlan Nature Reserve is located in the Valley of San Buenaventura, a quarter of a mile before Panajachel on the shores of Lake Atitlán.  It is a short 12 minute walk from Panajachel and you can also take a taxi in town and reach the Visitor Center in 4 minutes.
